Needham House, an 1820s farmhouse nestled in Vermont’s Green Mountains, is artist Terry John Woods’ beloved home—and it’s the canvas on which he works out his design ideas. Here, Woods has reinvented his family homestead while adding visual and tactile pleasure to every part of the house and garden. His eclectic, mix-and-match sensibility is unafraid to combine the finely polished with the charmingly weathered, the treasured heirloom with the just-discovered… More >>

If you like a crisp, white interior, this book is for you. If you like color, then you probably won’t care for this book. I live in northern NY, and winter is six months long. Living in a house that is painted all white would be even more chilling. Also the decor is what I would rather impractical, if not downright silly.
One of the few photos I enjoyed was a picture that included bright red winterberries against a white background. That was beautiful.

This is a very pretty book. It is worth the price point. The pictures are gorgeous. I would recommend this book for any “decorating” buff like me!

this is not a good book. Beautiful at times, but nothing to do with a farm. I had hoped for that true working the fields, making the food, relaxing on the porch, harvesting, tending to house, animals and buildings – traces from real farm living. if you want to see the traces, and believe them; get the ‘new old house’ by Martha Stewart, for the true shabby look, any of the Shabby originals (the first is the best), the Ricky Lauren ranch book or even the other one suggested on this page; Perfect English cottage. All of these have more true depictions, this book has just a multitude of repeat ‘white flower in white vase’ photoes, not worth it.

The careful work and fine hands of Terry, Dale and Kindra have created another beautiful book. When I see books with such spectacular pictures, I seldom take the time to read the explanations. In this case, the writing is tender and thoughtful as it invites you to the next page. The appreciation of the ordinary is clear even as the ordinary is so beautifully treated and displayed. The appreciation of the past that is expressed in the old family photos is very touching and makes me want to dig into the books and boxes in my own storage bin. Congratulations to the creators of this splendid volume.

Excellent decorating/coffeetable book. I am fortunate enough to have been able to personally tour Terry & Dale’s farmhouse in Shrewsbury, VT. The house looks exactly like the photos in Terry’s book and his ability to decorate using old and new is a natural talent. Although White-on-White may not be everyone’s style, the IDEAS for decorating can be used to enhance any space. This is a throughly enjoyable book and would make a great addition to any collection.
